Vandex super white waterproofing

Vandex super white waterproofing is used to waterproof and protect concrete. It consists of white or grey Portland cement, a compound of active chemicals and specially treated quartz sand. It is supplied in 25kg bags in a powder form and contractors only need to add water before applying it. Vandex super white can be applied against pressure and non-pressure surfaces.

For instance. You can apply it on the inside of a water tank (pressure) and on the outside wall of the water tank (non-pressure). The most common areas Vandex is applied to is basement retaining walls, concrete slabs, swimming-pools, channels, bridges, water retaining structures and construction joints. So how does Vandex work? When it is applied to a concrete surface the active chemicals combine with the free lime and moisture in the capillary tract, to form insoluble crystalline complexes. The crystals block the capillaries and minor shrinkage cracks in the concrete to prevent any further water ingress .

The Vandex will protect the concrete against sea water, aggressive ground water, waste water and certain chemical solutions. Vandex super white is approved though to use in contact with potable water and is therefore perfect to waterproof storage tanks, reservoirs and water towers. All concrete that is waterproofed with Vandex must be clean and have a porous surface to which the Vandex can bond to. If the surface has grease or dirt on it remove it with high pressure water jetting, wet sand blasting or a wire brush. If there is cracks in the surface it must be chased out and treated with Vandex Uni Mortar 1.

When you apply the Vandex use a masonry brush and paint on the first coat. The second coat must then be painted onto the first coat while it is still green. This method is used when applying the Slurry consistency. When the Dry powder consistency method is used the specified amount of Vandex Super is distributed in powder form through a sieve and toweled into the freshly placed concrete once this once this has reached initial set.

In conclusion Vandex super white is a superior product to use when waterproofing concrete. Whether you use it on pressure or non-pressure surfaces it will perform at it's best. Make sure your surfaces are clean and porous and apply the recommended coats required and your surface will be leak free and waterproofed for years to come.
