WATERPROOFING
CHALLENGES & EXISTING STRUCTURES
When it comes
to waterproofing repairs, the aim and objective of our business
is to offer clients an assessment of the current waterproofing system,
point out weaknesses with the system and also possible related construction
problems on their buildings and offer a suitable waterproofing design
where possible, to rectify such problems.
Problems
that are due to the original incorrect, or poor design of a building,
sometimes cannot be rectified easily, or at all, without major reconstruction.
We often find that clients expect that some seemingly small leak
problem has an obvious point of ingress and will be a quick, inexpensive
job. How disappointed many of these clients are when they presented
with a holistic approach to a repair, or in some cases a replacement,
because there is no other means of being certain that they will
receive a solution to the problem at hand.
Problem
solving, unfortunately, is not an exact science and Ross
and Son cannot offer any "magical" solution to problems.
In some cases, where there is incorrect or poor design, any suggestions
offered might have to be of a compromise nature. The implications
and risks would be thoroughly explained to the client at the time.
There could be situations where there are no solutions, without
starting the building all over again!
Education
on the waterproofing of buildings is very important and unfortunately
is sometimes overlooked at the design phase. This ends up being
to the determent of waterproofing contractors who, by virtue of
their trade, are expected to solve all manner of waterproofing problem
despite the lack of proper design at the beginning of a project.
