Zincalume
roof sheets last up to 4 times longer than ordinary galvanized steel
roof sheets. It has excellent corrosion resistance and with the
new and improved weathering performance it helps the Zincalume steel
to hold it's distinctive look for longer. Exposure of Zincalume
steel on commercial roofs show significantly less general and differential
weathering than other metallic steel products giving you a building
that maintains it's distinctive metallic look for longer.
Zincalume roofsheets
is made up of four deferent layers. 55% of the roof sheet is made
up of aluminium for better barrier protection, 43.5% zinc for sacrificial
galvanic protection, 1.5% Silicon and base Steel. Your regular Galvanized
steel is 100% zinc and base steel. That's Galvanize steel leaves
red rust. Zincalume on the other hand will never show red rust marks.
Big roofing companies like like BlueScope Steel did tests in deferent
environments to test the durability and capabilities of Zincalume.
Well Zincalume' performance over delivered! After spraying Zincalume
and Galvanized roof sheets with salt for 240 hours the Galvanized
roof sheet showed 20% corrosion and 7% red rust. Zinalume had no
corrosion and no red rust. After being in severe marine environment
for 6 years the galvanized steel lost it's coloring and formed 30%
red rust on it. After doing a test in an atmospheric environment
for 20 years 50% of the galvanized steel formed red rust where the
zincalume showed no trace of red rust. Lastly a 26 year test was
done in a Industrial environment. The ibr galvanized steel roof
sheets showed 80% corrosion where the zincalume still showed no
sign of red rust. These tests really do show the quality and superiority
of Zincalume roof sheets and it's ability to withstand the worst
of environments.
Don't use cheap
roofbolts to fix down Zincalume roof sheets when you doing a roof
repair or roof replacement. Rather buy your roofing contractor Class
3 roofbolt screws. Class 3 roofbolts don't rust and have it's own
washer fixed to the roofbolt. If a contractor uses cheaper roofbolts
the Zincalume will sacrifice itself to prevent the roofbolt from
rusting and so start rusting around the area where the roofbolt
is fixed. A really great attribute that makes Zincalume superior
to regular galvanized roof sheets is that even the unwashed side
(being the side that doesn't get washed off by the rain) doesn't
rust even if the roof is next to the ocean. By the way if you live
near the beach and have a steel or aluminium garage try to hose
it down with water once a week. This will wash all the salt of the
steel preventing it from rusting and giving the garage door a much
longer lifespan.
Zincalume is
by far the most durable roof sheets for roofing and is definitely
a great investment.
